Chorus Show

One of our end of school activities was Natalie's big chorus show!
It ended up being the same night as Alyssa's soccer banquet, so Robert went with Alyssa and I went with Natalie. Knowing the boys wouldn't last through either one, we had them go to a friends house to play.

The theme for the chorus show was "Top Hits." Mostly from today, but there were some from decades past.
Enjoy parts of the 6th grade chorus numbers!
Natalie is on the back row, second person in.
"Hello"

"Rock'n Robin"

and "Hey Soul Sister."
The chorus show is always a long evening, but a lot of fun to watch.
The kids had a great time performing!

I Love The River!

I love summer on our river!
We spent a beautiful and peaceful afternoon enjoying the cool water.
Playing on the sandbars.
Enjoying my all-time favorite tree!
OK, I have lots of favorite trees, and this is definitely one of them.
(I wish I had one in my yard)
Swimming to the rock . . .
and jumping off!
Come join us.
It's going to be a great summer!

She's leaving on a jet plane . . .

Yesterday I dropped Alyssa off at the airport. 5 1/2 months shy of not having to fly as an unaccompanied minor - I got to take her to the gate and see her plane off.
She'll be in CT for 3 weeks working for Robert's brother and sister-in-law, helping take care of their four children.
We are excited she has this opportunity, but will miss her here.
I'll also try to post more often so she can keep up with stories and pictures we won't get to when we talk on the phone.
Have fun, Alyssa!

And Then It's Gone

One of my favorite things about the end of the school year is that I get to give the boys their summer hair cut.

Before:
 What they lost -
(Jake's at the end of the tub, Logan's on the side)
And then it's gone!
I love my summer boys - short hair is the best!

Our Number One Nerd

Seeing as this post will soon be buried behind the posts coming up of soccer, end of school activities, and the beginning of summer vacation, I thought I'd take a moment to brag.
All the kids have done great at school this year!
Alyssa, now in high school, is especially excited to do well - as it will look good on college applications.

She got awards for excellence in three of her four classes this semester: Women's Chorus, Honors Lit., Honors Biology; and a silver plate for having the top freshman GPA!
(There was a student in her AP Gov't class that has a higher class average and go that award)
We are proud of all our children and our number one freshman nerd!

On to the Best Year Yet!

Officially into her 13th year, Natalie celebrated with friends last Friday. The river has been perfect so, even after a little rain, the party called for playing in the river!
The boys couldn't wait for Natalie's party so they could get in the water again.

Then back to the house for pizza, cake and ice cream.
In our family we use the "place values" candle method - which means you have to be looking at the cake in the right direction.
1 in the tens column and 2 in the ones column.
Singing and

 a wish,
and some balloon game fun.
Watch out, Logan wasn't a bit shy about going after the older girls balloons, trying to pop them!

Natalie loved having her friends over and sharing her birthday celebrations!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NATALIE!

Good Times at School

Jake received an award, this last quarter of school. It was the Principle's Award - for overall good citizenship and outstanding academic achievement.
While this is a great accomplishment, look carefully at his smile. He got six braces on the day before and has been smiling with his lips curled back every since.
We are hoping with "phase one" to expand and make some room for teeth coming in, that he won't have to have "phase two" - full braces - once he's done with this in a year.
We're crossing our fingers.

At the beginning of the school year Logan, along with the rest of his class, made an outline of his body and colored it.
Throughout the year one student at a time was taken and the class talked about nouns, adjectives, and verbs that could describe that student. Each student would then draw a picture and write some sentences about the one being spotlighted.
Logan, being first in last name alphabetical order had his picture put up first, but taken down last. He started getting nervous that the end of the school year was coming and they hadn't done "All About Logan" yet.
This past week they got to his picture!
He brought it home and has had it laid out on the living room floor for the last two days (I finally convinced him today to put it up in his room).
Here is the picture of Logan sitting with Logan and the book "All About Logan" being held Logan's hand.
He loves reading through the book and seeing what each of his classmates wrote about him.
A small daddy-long leg spider was crawling across his paper one time and he said "Mom, get that spider off of me!"
He has loved kindergarten and all his friends and can't wait for 1st grade!
