Nine

Logan said we needed to have Jake's birthday party because he wouldn't be nine until we had the party.
Jake picked ham, mac and cheese, and pistachios for his birthday dinner.
With his friend party and cake the next day, we had mint chocolate chip Kondike bars, that he had gotten from a friend of ours, for the "cake."
He couldn't wait to open his presents.
He knew one he was getting from Logan and was excited to get a crystal growing kit from Natalie, and
and the Lego Ideas book from the rest of us.
We spent most of the next day getting set up for his party with friends.
He wanted a Ninjago Rise of the Snakes party, but after my creative spurt with his Ninjago party last year, I told him we should plan something else.
We decided on a Lego Universe Party and do activities from different Lego worlds.
We played some quidditch from Lego Harry Potter,
jumped over and crawled out of a scrape like Lego Indiana Jones,
Dug for geodes, for Lego Power Miners,
and cracked them open.
They practiced their Lego Star Wars blaster shooting skills trying to knock over droids.
They looked for dinos (Lego Dino), shot at aliens (Lego Alien Conquest), and used their creativity when they had to take a cup of Legos and make something with only the pieces they scooped up.
Then it was time to eat the Great Devourer!
OK, so not as scary as the Lego Ninjago Rise of the Snakes Great Devourer
- but it's a snake . . . with evil eyes!
Jake set up the candles in such a way that it was a lot harder to blow them all out in one breath, but I think his birthday wish, whatever it was, will still come true.
After cake and presents, we had time for one more Lego World - Pharaoh's Quest -  and the boys had a great time wrapping each other up and/or breaking free before they had to leave.

So much fun -
I'd better start thinking know about some new Lego themed party for next year!

Happy Birthday, Jake!
