Open House

The Vet School at UGA has an open house every year.
My neighbor caught me, as we were driving by each other, to tell me about it - thinking it was something the kids would like to go to.
So, we went to check it out - always loving seeing new things.
We first went to see all the animals they had there.
They loved that there was a camel,
(We brought Flat Stanley with us, he was visiting from AZ)
and llamas.
They thought the goat was funny standing up on top of the cage.
They had a miniature horse that they had drawn on the organs on one side, and bones on the other - weird, but cool.
As the sign said, we used lots of hand sanitizer!
The boys took a break on the rock, by the cow.
In one area they were having demonstrations throughout the day. We missed the Frisbee dog (they had done it a bit earlier than what was on the schedule), but we got to see the sheep dog in action. It was funny to see the dog "sneak" up on the sheep - by command - and herd them in when told.
You could bring a stuffed animal to go through surgery.
Natalie brought Lemon Drop. When we first got in line she didn't want to use her stuffed animal, but one of the extras they had - the room made her nervous.
I told her she could use what she brought.
They asked what was wrong - Natalie said she had fallen out of a tree, and did some pre-op.
Giving Lemon Drop a shot,
and checking out her heartbeat.
It was really cute, because the lady would thump her finger on the back of the stuffed animals. Natalie had been watching them do it to others, and thought it was pretty cool to hear it.
We watched younger kids' eyes open wide in excited surprise when they listened for a "heartbeat."
Then it was time to gown up.
Natalie assisted, while one of the Vet students performed the "surgery,"
which consisted of tying in a few stitches.
After "recovering" we were good to go.
The kids had a great time.
