Wednesday marked the first day of the school year! The day before, the children got to meet their teachers. A couple of weeks ago we were on the elementary school's website and saw that Jake's kindergarten teacher had moved to 4th grade. The prayers began that Natalie would get her as a teacher. So, when it was "Meet the Teacher" day, the 4th grade hall was the first one we went to. Natalie got Mrs. Wolfe!!!! We are so excited!!
Jake's teacher is Mrs. Jungman. He has a bunch of kids from his kindergarten class in his 1st grade class and also his friend John, from down the street, and Yvonne, who also lives in the neighborhood! After leaving his classroom we saw some friends of ours whose oldest son had Mrs. Jungman for two years in a row (as they both moved grade levels) and said she was the best!
After going to the elementary school, we went over to the middle school to get Alyssa's schedule and see where all her classes are. She is "too old" to have her pictures taken with her teachers :), but it looks like it will be a great year for her as well.A couple of weeks ago I started getting the kids up at 8am, getting ready for the early school morning rise time. A week before school I started getting them up at 7am. 6:15am Wednesday morning was still early! no matter when I had been getting them up! But a bit of breakfast and the excitement of getting ready for their first day, and they were ready to go!
The middle school starts 15 minutes earlier this year, so Alyssa's bus is a bit earlier as well. No problem, she was always ready by the time the elementary school bus came, she just won't have as much time in the morning to work ahead on her homework and projects that will be coming . . soon.
Natalie came off the bus, after school, holding two Blockbuster microwave popcorn buckets, with three movie theater candies in them and a $25 gift card to Blockbuster . . . I had won the PTO drawing!!! My $5 family membership was well worth it!The first day went great! Natalie said her first day was great because they were so busy they didn't do any math. Jake loved seeing all his friends again and has a goal of all E's (for behavior) this year. Alyssa said her day was fine . . . "it's school" (those preteens!). Since 6th grade is in middle school, being in 7th grade is now "been there, done that". After her second day she said she was bored and would rather be home. Yea, bored because they are still getting settled in, just wait until the continual homework and projects start!!
Now it is just Logan and I at home during the day again. I realized my summer projects ended up being the kids and now that they are back in school my projects are now everything else that didn't get done. I sure miss them though, the day seems much longer without them.
