First Fridays!

Our dear friends were moving and there were only a few days left to spend time with them. While there was frantic packing going on at their house, I took the kids after school, last Friday, until later that evening. We had a blast! A warm day enabled us to spend a couple of hours at the river. The boys had fun on the rope swing. One of these days we'll have enough water to really make it fun, but while the kids are small, shallow waters are good enough - for everyone.
Our friends have children just about a year younger than our oldest three. It's been perfect in having a friend for each. The boys had a serious conversation about school - teachers, subjects, friends - while they warmed up in the "hot tub" (a dug out shallow hole where the water warms up in the sun). It was pretty funny listening to them.
Isaac first notice the "chocolate milk" water. Saying chocolate milk was all that was need for Logan to play happily in the "chocolate milk" for quite a while!
The boys would run and jump into the "hot tubs" they dug. Logan had one of his own and was happily copying what the other boys were doing. He is definitely learning to hold his own, as is evident in the following video, when Jake comes into his space.

Maybe he is just using the volume of his voice to put his foot down. I had to a laugh.

After having dinner we decided to take them to Watkinsville's First Friday. For the first Friday of each month (minus January - March), downtown Watkinsville has different free activities for families. Some of the store will stay open later than usual and provide activities as well. Our friends had never been to Sweet Retreat either!! And we had to take them there for ice cream before they moved.
One of the churches brought out their "10 Commandment Train". We have only seen this in parades, so getting a chance to take a spin in it ourselves was a lot of fun - even if it is just to say we've been in it!
The kids did leaf rubbings on tissue paper that got put on cards. They got their hair colored.
A few waited in line to get a balloon made. And everyone got ice cream!
We wish we could have had the whole family over, but loved spending our Friday with the kids. We will miss them.
