Today was our first official day of summer vacation!
Friday was the kids last day of school!
After a week of movies, arts and crafts, read-ins, and game day (ok, for Natalie and Jake - Alyssa had projects and "real work," but she's in middle school), the last day of school was Field Day and class parties!
Natalie had been looking forward to it all year. She even spent birthday money on a Field Day t-shirt. We woke up, that last day, to clouds and 100% chance of rain. I thought Natalie would be really disappointed, but the teachers planned for a chance of rain and they had a wonderful day.
I was so excited to see them come off the bus that afternoon.
I'm really looking forward to this summer and having them home.
But, our summer vacation couldn't start right away. We still had final soccer games and soccer parties and trophies on Saturday - starting at 9am!
The kids had a lot of fun this season at soccer.
We finally found the right bribe for Jake to play really hard - picking a movie to rent (and he loved playing really hard) - Natalie's division had pretty evenly matched teams and most of her games ended in ties - Alyssa's team had a great year, but lost in the first round of single- elimination tournament play, in double overtime - where the second overtime was sudden death.
They all had great coaches.
Natalie had everyone on her team sign her jersey.
Alyssa's last game was last Monday and I wasn't there at her soccer party on Saturday to take pictures (no uniform anyway).
With 9am church Sunday, we still didn't have a leisurely summer vacation morning until this morning - and we were all up by 7am!
One of my favorite things about school ending? . . . .
Giving my boys their summer hair cuts!
Let the fun begin!
