After almost a year, Alyssa finally has a new bicycle!
She had outgrown her old one last fall and has been saving money for a new one. She donated her body to science by doing a zinc and bone study at UGA. She had to get her bones scanned, some blood drawn and then take a supplement for a month and then go through the tests again. She made $75 towards her bike. We went looking at bikes last weekend and she found the one she wanted - a bit more than $75.
With two more weeks before school starts, she really wanted to get the bike and get some good long riding days in. We had called Robert to see if we could get her bike now and have her owe us the balance. Robert came home early and Alyssa started asking if they could get the bike. Robert had given me a "Giant" brochure so I knew he had stopped and picked it up on the way home.
He told Alyssa to go wait for him in the car and he would be right there. She was very excited and got her shoes and went out to the car. She came racing back in even more excited, thanking Robert for getting the bike.
They made the deal that she could pay back the money owed in babysitting time - instead of getting paid cash for babysitting it would go towards what she owed on the bike - great deal for Robert and me!
Alyssa doesn't care, she is just ecstatic that she has a bike!
